Digital Photo Project #3
Proposal…
1. How will you develop an idea for this third project that differs from your idea for the first and second project?
Having extensively explored the implementation of glitch as a technique to illustrate the concept of collapse, I am motivated to further delve into the extent to which I can diminish the "Photographic Mass" while still constructing a meaningful photographic essay. In the ongoing development of this series, my primary focus centers on the diverse representations of time. My objective is to craft and manipulate photographs, symbols, memories, and other time-based materials in a manner that effectively collapses the physical and digital essence of the material through glitch manipulation. Specifically, I aim to investigate the notion of the decisive moment and how it pertains to the deliberate actions of removing and introducing noise into image compression technologies.
This investigative endeavor revolves around three distinct facets:
Time Capture: This aspect entails the act of capturing time, whether through the physical photography of objects in motion or by encapsulating a figurative embodiment of time.
Record Disruption: The deliberate disruption of the photographic medium serves as a means to unveil concealed and non-apparent realities within the photograph, thus exposing new dimensions of the captured moment.
Series Presentation: The presentation of this series seeks to convey the impressionistic nature of memory, time, and historical narratives through the intentional introduction of malfunction, providing a unique lens through which viewers can perceive and interpret these concepts.
2. Planned use of facilities, equipment, technology:
Nikon D3200
Variety of lenses and flashes
Gopro Hero 8
variety of mounts
Computer text editor
Surround Sound Speaker systems
3. Based on your first project, what sort of visual research will you plan to complete for this project? What artists were recommended to you in the second critique? Why? Are you choosing to explore them now, and if not, why?
This is my first formal approach at creating a photographic installation that uses glitch and noise in such a intimate way. Due to this fact I will be diving more into Glitch media artists as well as experimental photographic installation techniques.
People I plan to Research:
Pamela Lee
Lucio Fontana
Michael Taratino
Laura Mulvey
Other Areas of Research:
Sabato Visconti
Kerry Nourrice
Luis R aka Zombtendo
