Digital Animation Final

For this project I aim to create an artwork which uses computer generated three-dimensional imagery to create a fictional reality that explores post-truth ideas and my own personal triumph against authoritarian systems. I will engage in/with childhood memories, authoritarian control systems, and internal dialogue to create a poetic response to reality. By analyzing repressed memories and settings, I will recognize relationships between spaces I existed in and create symbolisms through them.

Themes/Research questions:

  • Post-truth/misinformation

    • How do theme parks create fiction to control viewers?

  • parental authoritarianism

    • How was fear used against me and how can it be reallocated for internal piece?

    • What does it mean to become the thing you fear?

    • Who is Taney Bogey?

  • media and consumerism

  • constructed reality as individual escape

    • How can I visualize the internal dialogue my mind escapes to?

Works in progress:

Poetry

Video Exploration

AI Image Generation

Visual Research/media:

  • Pierre Huyghe - Annlee: No Ghost Just A Shell

  • Bruce Nauman - Live-Taped Video Corridor (1970)

  • Tony Oursler - AROS exhibition, Denmark 2012

  • Patricia Piccinini

Ideas

  1. 3D animation of an escape pod coming into existence and opening its doors.

  2. Personify another fear/monster that was instilled in my childhood and place it in one of the notorious theme parks (Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, I.e) of the area I’m from.

  3. create a 3D animation of the camera entering my brain and it observing a machine-like internal quality.
